Earlier this year, the commission approved funding for construction and maintenance of a new county website. We hope it serves you well by providing information and transparency. When making the request for the project, transparency was and continues to be my foremost objective. I realize that most people know very little about their county government, how it’s funded, what it does, and how it works. That information is now at your fingertips. If there’s something you want to know that isn’t featured here, let me know, and I’ll add it to the site.
There are links included to the Google Drive, which is filled with public information that previously could only be obtained through written request at the courthouse. You can see budgets, audit reports, meeting minutes, regulations, and much more by visiting the drive. Most of it is searchable because the documents were uploaded as Word files, but, unfortunately, the PDF files are not.
Additionally, during his term Revenue Commissioner, Gregg Armstrong, realizing that over 70% of the county’s work force has occupations outside the county, continues to make paying taxes drastically more convenient for Blount County citizens by offering tag renewals and payment of property taxes onlineor through the app. No one should have to take time off work to pay taxes.
